Are you Proud? Margate is Proud! And on Saturday the 11th August, Pride comes to Margate! Streets and shops will be adorned in a rainbow of colour under blue Kent skies and a shining sun. Last year was a blast and this year is shaping up to be even better!
Spread the word, tell your friends and come and join the P A R T Y ! !
Margate Pride will celebrate Thanet’s diversity bringing communities together – gay, straight or in-between – there is a place in the parade for you. Margate Pride is independent and sponsor free. It is a grass roots event and wants to stay that way.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
The event is a great chance for Margate to show what it has on offer culturally, educationally and socially.
Community workshops are being held to make banners, decorate floats and other vehicles on wheels including prams, bikes and trikes making the day a riot of colour.
Want to dance your socks off? Dreamland is hosting Ana Matronic and the Margate Arts Club are taking over the fabulous Sundeck – so come boogie on down to the setting sun and remember – Pride is a day of celebration – of all cultures and sexual orientation – leave the troubles of the world behind and enjoy the moment!
PUPS CAN BE PROUD TOO
Do you have a four legged furry friend who wants to be part of the festivities? The Margate Pride Puppy Parade will be welcoming all furbulous pups – dressed up in sequins and rainbows or simply naked, the weird and the wonderful are all welcome. Nervous dogs can come along too but owners are asked to tie a yellow ribbon on their leads to indicate this – there will be some sunny ribbons available to anyone who feels they need one on the day.
If you are attending with your pup please bring a water bottle to keep them well hydrated and make sure whatever they are wearing is not too thick or cumbersome. Our fur babies prefur to be cool! Lastly, remember your poop bags to keep our lovely town clean and poop free.
