Margate Pride Events Round-Up 2022

On Saturday the 13th August, Pride comes to Margate! Streets and shops will be adorned in a rainbow of colour under the blue Kent skies. Every year is a blast and this year is shaping up to be even better than ever! Margate Pride will celebrate Thanet’s diversity bringing communities together - whoever you are, there is a place Pride for you. Margate Pride is independent and sponsor free. It is a grass roots event and wants to stay that way. Their focus is on making space for our local community, community groups and charities. There is so much to get involved with, here is a round-up of some of our favourite events...

 

MOVED, Queer Film is a Portal

11.08.22 to 14.08.22, 10am to 5pm daily

Turner Contemporary

A free exhibition of films. Films being shown are; Remnants by Tolu Oshodi, Is It Dirty by Alex Matraxia, Hallow Road by Robert George Sanders and Harry Evans, Proclaimer by Lo Lo No and Isn’t It a Beautiful World by Joseph Wilson. 

 

Mx Margate Grand Final

Oval Bandstand, Cliftonville

 Margate Pride is putting its queer twist on the pageants of Margate’s yesteryear. They will be crowning the second ever MX MARGATE at this year’s Margate Pride! 

 

Queer House Party 

*tickets £5-£20*

Margate Lido, Ethelbert Crescent 

Legendary queer collective, Queer House Party and the Margate Arts Club are hosting a Margate PRIDE after after party at the Lido. Tickets available here.

 

Lesbian Life Line Workshop

*free*

20.08.22, 6pm to 9pm

Hotel Michele, Northdown Road

Join local artist, Kavel Rafferty, for a relaxed life drawing workshop at Hotel Michele, for the final day of the Pride Art Map. Welcome to Bi/Pan, Lesbian and Non-binary folk. No experience needed, this event is open to all artistic levels and experiences. All materials provided. Free tickets available here
