We've had a few customers asking if the current political climate will affect our British business, so we thought we'd let you know as much as we do. As the UK does not currently have a trade deal with Europe, it is difficult to predict exactly what this will mean for small business like ours.
All parcels that we currently send to Europe are free of customs charges, however we expect that this will change if no customs deal is arranged by 31st December. No change to customs will occur before the end of the transition period (31st December 2020)
Th majority of our parcels to the EU are posted using Royal Mail, Britains postal services. Below is a statement they made regarding parcels.
"Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide have been working with EU partners on maintaining an excellent service and to ensure we are prepared for Brexit.
If the UK leaves the EU with no-deal, the rules for posting goods to the EU will change. We expect the rules which apply to non-EU countries to be extended to EU countries. This would mean that, with immediate effect, customs declaration forms would be required for goods being sent to all countries outside the UK."
This may mean that orders from European countries will be subject to customs charges at their countries rate. As a small business this cost is almost impossible for us to absorb, we hope that a few extra pennies doesn't put you off ordering our beautifully crafted products.
We do not expect any other changes to affect our customers or business at this current time.
