Kenyan Soapstone Hand Carved Large Vase 'Daisy'

The Daisy vase was designed by Amy — a large, sculptural piece where curved daisy petals sit against engraved vertical line-work, balancing soft and graphic detail. The inside is porous, so it's best suited to dried flowers and foliage rather than fresh, water-filled stems.

Soapstone is a tactile, marble-like stone, and being a natural material, every piece varies slightly in colour and pattern. Ours are polished and finished with natural beeswax.

Who made your soapstone carving?

Hand carved by the Tabaka Youth Self Help Group, a collective of soapstone artisans based in Tabaka, South West Kenya, founded in 1996 and led today by Bonnie. The group carves each piece from soapstone quarried locally, continuing a craft the region has been known for over generations.
