A new year means there are lots of new, exciting trends for our homes! We love sprucing up our homes and wanted to show you how you can introduce some of your favourite trends into your home in a more sustainable way. You don't need to replace every piece of furniture in your home to create a new look. A few mindful additions can make a huge difference to the overall look of your home, and are a low-commitment way to trying out some new trends. Here's how we will be trying out 2022's most popular interiors trends...
Biophilic Design
Biophilic design focuses on marrying the inside and outside together to create an interior that is light, airy and natural. There is a focus on peaceful, calming environments that bring nature indoors. Sticking to a natural colour palette of greens, browns, beiges and creams makes this look easy to achieve. A key component to biophilic design is introducing natural materials such as rafia, cotton, stone and wood, as well as lots of houseplants. We achieved this look with second-hand furniture, as well as natural mud cloth textiles, soapstone accessories and plenty of plants inside natural sisal baskets.

Bold pattern & colours
When it comes to colour and patterns, the bolder the better for 2022! We love mixing and matching different graphic patterns together but we know this can be intimidating at first. We recommend mixing a smaller scale 'ditsy' pattern with a larger print and in a complimentary colour palette. If you want to mix a few bold colours together, take a look at a colour wheel and pick colours that are complimentary (meaning they are opposite each other on a colour wheel) such as blue and orange or red and green. You can also experiment with an analogous colour palette, which means picking colours that sit next to one another on the colour wheel such as purple, blue and green. The most important thing is to have fun!

3D Wall art
A lot more time spend indoors means that most of us are bored of staring at the same 4 walls - literally! Adding interest to your walls with some wall art is a great way to spruce up your home without the commitment of repainting. Plus, you can swap out your wall art to different rooms if you decide to make any big changes! We love adding interest to a wall with 3D objects. Pick items that are in a similar colour palette to create a more calming, cohesive look. Or you can go all out and mix all the colours together! It is key to use pieces that have different textures and depths to them as this will really help to draw the eye around the room. Picking one larger piece to be the focal point can make styling easier and can help to anchor the room. It is great fun to play around and see what works for you and your home.

Sustainability
As said by Robert & Cortney Novogratz in The Shade Store magazine, "sustainability has become a major issue for everyone, as it should. Looking into the sustainability of everything is a must and it is really excellent that so many designers are trying to learn what the best materials are to use for the long-term health of our eco-system. Luckily, there is a lot to choose from!" We couldn't agree more! Luckily, shopping sustainably is easy with Artisans & Adventurers as all of our beautiful homewares are produced to the highest ethical and sustainable standards. Our love for contemporary sustainable interior design and jewellery as well as our passion for ethical production led to the creation of the brand you see today. We believe that every purchase can be made consciously in order to live a stylish, sustainable lifestyle.
