Indian Block Printed Pillow Case 'Kingfisher'

The Kingfisher design began as Amy's own hand-drawn illustration, inspired by the dragonflies that dance across her garden pond each summer. Kingfishers, dragonflies and trailing plants weave across the fabric in a warm palette of pink, yellow and green, using the age-old Indian technique of hand block printing — a craft with roots stretching back to the pre-Vedic age.

Who made your pillow case?

Handcrafted in Southern India by Srini and his team, in a workshop founded in 1978. It holds a striking list of accreditations for ethical and sustainable production — SA8000, GOTS and OekoTex 100 Class among them, alongside Ethical Fashion Forum certification. The team have access to housing support, education, healthcare and ongoing training as part of their employment.

The detail:

• 100% Indian cotton, AZO-free dyes
• Machine-sewn in the Oxford style with a fabric border
• Standard pillowcase — 50cm x 75cm
• Pairs with our Kingfisher quilt/throw for a matching set

Care

Machine wash on a cool cycle (30° or below) with similar colours, and iron on a medium heat. Not suitable for tumble drying or dry cleaning — leave to dry naturally, out of direct sunlight.
