AARVEN
Ghanaian Ashanti Brass Door Knocker 'Chameleon'
Couldn't load pickup availability
The Chameleon knocker is one of our most popular designs — its curled tail forming the ring, with the kind of detail that photographs beautifully and has been featured in The Guardian.
Who made your knocker?
Cast by George Kofi and his team in Kumasi, the capital of Ghana's Ashanti Region. George has been practising lost-wax brass casting for around 15 years, learning the craft from his uncle, and has worked with AARVEN since 2018. He runs the workshop with his business partner Monica and five other artisans.
The detail:
- Recycled brass, hand-cast using the lost-wax technique
- Approximately 18cm x 5cm
- Strike plate included; no screws or nails needed
- An AARVEN original design
Care
Polish with Brasso (following the bottle's instructions), or rub with half a lemon dipped in salt. Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth.
