Something rather lovely has been happening at the AARVEN store on Mondays and Tuesdays.
We’ve teamed up with Harmony, the founder of Margate Flowers, to bring fresh, seasonal blooms into the shop at the start of each week. When Harmony isn’t at her regular spots — the ticket halls at Margate and Ramsgate train stations, or the Margate Old Town weekend market — she’s here, filling the AARVEN store with colour, scent, and the kind of energy that only fresh flowers bring.
It’s a collaboration that feels very natural to us. Both AARVEN and Margate Flowers are independent businesses built around beautiful, ethically sourced things made with real care. Both are rooted in the Margate community. And both believe that the things we surround ourselves with at home should make us feel something.
We sat down with Harmony to find out more about how Margate Flowers came to be, what goes into sourcing the best blooms, and why she thinks fresh flowers and handmade homeware belong together.

Meet Harmony, founder of Margate Flowers
Tell us a bit about yourself and how Margate Flowers started.
Im 42, I’ve been running flower stalls for 20 years. I run Margate flowers with my brother James. We both live in Margate. I began selling flowers in Margate in 2024, when I’d had enough of commuting and living out of a bag for 2 years.
Where do your flowers come from?
We buy all of our flowers from new Covent Garden market. For us it’s unparalleled for range, price, quality and we have very long standing relationships with the guys selling there. So worth the 3am alarm…. just about.
How do you choose what to stock each week?
We buy based on finding the best quality against price; taking into consideration seasonal availability, and what’s selling well.
The quantity is based on me trying to buy loads and my brother trying to keep me in check.
What does being part of the Margate independent business community mean to you?
It means a great deal to us, we have been welcomed by many and it’s lovely to have made some really great friends and contacts in the town we live and work in.
How did the collaboration with AARVEN come about, and what drew you to it?
I had supplied flowers for one of AARVEN's shoot previously and Amy approached me recently with the great idea of us putting a few flowers in the shop on our off days…. Genius
Do you have a favourite flower or a current seasonal favourite you’re excited about?
I’m always passionate about vibernum or vibes as I like to call them. I don’t think James gets it
