Authentic ‘Kingfisher’ Kantha Indian quilt. Meticulously constructed, each Kantha quilt was individually hand stitched with an outstanding amount of effort and time. This vibrant watercolour paint-style print depicts flying kingfisher birds, dragonflies, plants, and ornate patterns. Using the traditional Indian colour palette, the beautiful contrast of pink, yellow, and green makes for a stunning statement for your bedroom.

Each quilt is reversible and comes packaged in its own bolster drawstring bag. These quilts are cool to sleep beneath in summer months, provide additional warmth in the winter, and make cosy throws for sofas. The quilt is available in two sizes.

Block printing is an ancient technique mastered throughout the generations, originating from India and dated back to the pre-Vedic age (pre-1500 BCE). Each block section was individually printed and sewn in place.

Aiding to keep the cultural crafting technique alive, we collaborate with our team of talented artisans to create exclusive, contemporary designs. Co-founder Amy hand-illustrated the design, and Bee enriched it with the fresh, colourful palette reminiscent of Indian summers.

Inspired by Amy's love of gardening, and the dragonflies which dance across her pond in the summer months.

*THIS IS AN IMPERFECTLY BEAUTIFUL ITEM*

Wondering why our new exquisite Kingfisher design is for sale at less than the regular RRP of our other Kantha quilts?

There has been an unprecedented amount of rainfall in India where our block printed textiles are made. This has caused numerous struggles for our artisans. Due to funding, their workshop is not equipped for extreme weather conditions caused by global warming. Because of this, they experienced difficulties drying their inks. Our artisans worked incredibly hard, doing their best to retain quality, despite the rainfall and adverse conditions. As such, we believe these pieces deserve to be cherished by someone who understands beauty is not always perfection.

As a sustainable brand, we are conscious of our impact on the planet and try to reduce waste as much as possible. A lot of brands would dispose of ‘faulty’ stock. We want to ensure that our artisans are paid for their efforts and time, knowing how difficult the process would have been for them.

We know that our customers share the same values, so we hope you will appreciate the opportunity to support our artisans craft at a discounted price.

Imperfect goods may have overprinted blocks, or small ink smudges, or pin tucks in the stitching. However, none of these characteristics alter the beauty and functionality of the product in any way.

CARE

Our Indian block printed textiles are made using 100% Indian cotton and chemical free dyes. They can be machine washed on your coolest cycle (30 degrees and below). The cotton will become softer with every wash.

Take extra care with the mother of pearl buttons on cushion covers. We recommend washing anything with these buttons inside a delicates bag or standard pillowcase.

Always wash with similar colours and iron on a medium heat.

They are not suitable for tumble drying or dry cleaning, please leave your textiles to dry naturally.

Avoid placing them in direct sunlight as this may cause the dye to fade slightly.
