A smaller version of one of our most loved pieces — and in a colourway that earns its place on any wall.

This mini sun mask is hand carved from false rubber tree wood by Abdulai and his small team of craftspeople in Ghana. The geometric pattern — concentric rings of carved triangles radiating outward from a simple stylised face — draws on the tradition of Bwa masks from Burkina Faso, which have been used in ceremonies and cultural celebrations across West Africa for thousands of years.

The colours are our contemporary take: a vivid two-tone mustard and orange, painted by hand with water-based paint. No two masks are painted in quite the same way.

At 30cm, it works beautifully as a standalone piece — on a shelf, a gallery wall, in a child's bedroom — or grouped in a trio with the other colourways or alongside our large sun masks for a layered display.

  • Hand carved from false rubber tree wood
  • Hand painted with water-based paint in mustard and orange
  • Made by Abdulai's team in Ghana
  • 30cm x 30cm
  • Ready to hang
  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth; avoid direct sunlight and damp

Also available in two-tone blues and fluoro pink. See our large sun mask for the statement version.

WHO MADE YOUR SUN MASK?

Our Ghanaian masks are individually hand made by a small group of crafters in Ghana's vibrant capital, Accra, led by master carver, Abdulai.
