The renowned Turner Prize is coming to our home town of Margate. The prize has been awarded to new exciting British artists since 1984, the artists shortlisted for this years prize are Helen Cammock, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Oscar Murillo and Tai Shani.
Hosted by the Turner Contemporary gallery, the town will be abuzz with activities and events from Saturday 28th September to Sunday 12th January. The Turner prize itself will be awarded on Tuesday 3rd December at the playful Dreamland Amusement Park.
Visit Thanet and Margate NOW have arranged a full programme of vibrant Exhibitions, Music and Activities, which will be a welcome treat throughout the winter months.
Our Margate Artisans & Adventurers store is situated a two minute walk away from the Turner Contemporary gallery, straight down King Street, towards the Tudor House. So if you are thinking of visiting for the prize, we welcome you to come and say hello.
We will be hosting a late night Sip & Shop on Saturday 28th September at our store, for all of those attending or in Margate for the Opening of the main exhibition.
